Every guy, regardless of his skin type, can benefit from using a face scrub on a regular basis. Faces scrub work by gently exfoliating dead skin cells from the skin, reducing the potential for clogged pores and acne breakouts. Not only do face scrubs reduce acne breakouts, they can also give you a brighter, more even complexion.
Here are three things you should know about using a face scrub and wash properly:
- Guys with any skin type can benefit from using a regular face scrub.
- Tiege Hanley’s SCRUB is formulated for all skin types.
- If you have dry skin, use Tiege Hanely’s face scrub once per week (as opposed to twice per week).
To get the most out of your exfoliating face scrub, you need to know how to use it correctly. Below, we’ll discuss who should use a face scrub for men and the correct way to apply Tiege Hanley’s SCRUB in seven basic steps.
Who Should Use a Face Scrub for Men?
Like we said, face scrubs can do a whole lot of good for your skin. Regular exfoliation can give you a younger appearance while keeping stubborn acne at bay.
However, it’s incredibly important for guys to choose the right face scrub for their specific skin type. Here are some things you should look for in a face scrub based on your skin type:
Oily Skin
Guys with oily skin should avoid pore-clogging oils such as coconut oil and look for ingredients that prevent acne breakouts instead. Face scrubs containing Salicylic Acid are an excellent choice for oily skin types due to their potent acne-fighting abilities.
In a 2009 study published in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology, Salicylic Acid was compared to Benzoyl Peroxide in the treatment of acne vulgaris. Researchers found that Salicylic Acid was a suitable treatment option for those who couldn’t tolerate the harsh effects of Benzoyl Peroxide (See claim: “These results suggest that the LHA formulation could be a treatment option to consider in mild to moderate acne vulgaris patients that are intolerant to benzoyl peroxide”).
Try Men's Skin CareDry Skin
If you have dry skin, you don’t necessarily need to use a different face scrub than someone with oily skin. The most important thing is that you use a face scrub less often.
We recommend that guys with normal or oily skin should use our Tiege Hanley SCRUB no more than twice a week. But if you have dry skin, consider cutting back to once a week or once every 10 days.
Sensitive Skin
If you have sensitive skin, consider looking for a face scrub containing Willow Bark Extract, also known as White Willow Bark Extract. In addition to its antifungal and anti-inflammatory properties, Willow Bark Extract is also considered safe for sensitive skin.
In a 2015 study published in Phytotherapy Research: PTR, researchers noted that Willow Bark Extract provides anti-inflammatory properties with little side effects (see claim: Adverse effects appear to be minimal…”). With its anti-inflammatory properties and acne-fighting abilities, this potent ingredient is commonly used in skin care products for sensitive skin types.
Normal Skin
Guys with normal skin should focus on finding a face scrub with high-quality ingredients such as Cucumber Extract and Menthyl Lactate to soothe the skin. Vitamin B3 is another potent ingredient that can help energize the skin.
Just because you have a normal skin type doesn’t mean that you need to be rough with your skin. Go easy on your face by using your scrub no more than twice per week and be gentle with your technique.
How to Use Tiege Hanley Face Scrub in 7 Easy Steps
The benefit of using Tiege Hanley’s SCRUB is that it takes the guesswork out of finding the right face scrub for your skin type. Carefully formulated for guys with every skin type, our SCRUB has helped guys instantly achieve clearer, more youthful looking skin. Try SCRUB through our men's skin care kit and start exfoliating regularly.
To make the most of Tiege Hanley’s SCRUB, follow these seven easy steps:
1. Know When to Apply
In general, you should exfoliate your face only twice per week. For best results, exfoliate after you've used a face wash and rinsed thoroughly with warm water. You can use a daily facial cleanser which is appropriate for both morning and nighttime face washing. This product removes all of the dirt, grime and excess oil from your skin to prepare it for exfoliation. (Life Hack: You can use Tiege Hanley's WASH and SCRUB in the shower.)
2. Dispense the Proper Amount
With your face thoroughly rinsed and still wet, dispense a nickel-sized amount of exfoliating scrub into the palm of your hand. Be sure to use no more than this amount as our products are concentrated and go a long way.
3. Spread Evenly Over Hands
Before applying the product to your face, rub both hands together gently to spread the scrub to your other hand. This allows for a more even application.
4. Apply Gently to Face
After you have spread the facial scrub in your hands, apply it to your face. Gently massage the scrub into your skin in a circular motion for approximately five to 10 seconds. Do not stretch or pull your skin during application. Do not press hard when you use facial scrub. The scrub can irritate the eyes, so avoid this area when you apply the product to your face. You can also use this product on your neck and under your chin. If you have a beard, you may need to extend the circular rubbing motion another five to 10 seconds to make sure enough product makes contact with your skin.
5. Rinse Thoroughly
Once the application is complete, you will need to rinse your face thoroughly. Use lukewarm water and be sure to remove all of the scrub. Water that is too hot may irritate your skin, so make sure the water you use is a comfortable temperature.
6. Dry Gently
After your face is rinsed and completely free of product, gently pat it dry with a clean, soft towel. Resist the urge to rub your face with the towel, as this may lead to irritation. If you have acne, instead of rubbing your face with a towel, try to pat down your face with the dry sections of your towel. This method will reduce irritation.
7. Apply a Moisturizer
After your face is dry, apply a moisturizer to keep it well hydrated. At Tiege Hanley, we recommend using moisturizers specially formulated for a man's skin. We offer two moisturizers: Morning Facial Moisturizer and Bedtime Facial Moisturizer. These moisturizers are safe and well-suited for everyday use.
Keeping your skin looking its best doesn't have to be difficult or confusing. At Tiege Hanley, we do our best to make it easy for you by offering uncomplicated, affordable products designed specifically for a man's skin. Check out our comprehensive skin care line to learn more.
